Like King Midas, every note and melody that passes through the mind of the Icelandic bassist and composer Tómas R. Einarsson is transformed into gold and into the most beautiful musical expression. Bassanótt (The Night of the Bass) is a work of art in all its splendor, is, perhaps, its most incredible creation to date.
Tómas R. Einarsson
Tómas R. Einarsson was born March 25th, 1953, in Blönduós, Iceland. He bought his first double-bass in 1979, a year before he finished his studies at the University of Iceland (BA degree in History and Spanish)
The album has 8 instrumental numbers, composed and arranged by Einarsson. Bassanótt, the song that opens the album, is a compendium of what a round piece should be. with solos on piano, guitar, drums and -naturally- Einarsson's double bass. Laugar, is a son with an interesting development and a colorful piano solo by Eybór Gunnarsson. Dalir is an intimate and sublime bolero.
