Latin Jazz & More
The saxophonist from Cordoba, Argentina, Rudy Albano, currently based in Holland, presents his most personal album to date with the suggestive title My origins, for his usual label, Walboomers Records.
In this work the teacher is accompanied by his other three brothers; Dario, the major, also saxophonist like Rudy, Rubén who plays the trumpet and David, the youngest of the 4 on the double bass.
All this musical family, says Rudy, was an inevitable consequence of the work of his father who was also a drummer in Argentina.
The production was recorded between Amsterdam, Holland, where is the studio of Rudy and Cordoba, Argentina, where his three brothers and drummer Ismael Gordillo are based.
My Origins opens the album with a mix of tango and Latin Jazz, if Piazzolla had recorded with Mongo it would surely have been heard like that. Latin Sketches is a Latin jazz mid tempo with an interesting Hammond B very well inserted by Rene van den Hoofd.
Chinchina City, dedicated to the Colombian city is another great example of the complexity and afinque of its group with the solo of Ismael Gordillo on the vibraphone and Dario on the tenor saxophone.
Reina Morena is the homage of Albano to his Colombian love to the rhythm of Cumbia Jazz.
