The Chilean saxophonist Raúl Gutiérrez. Currently residing in Mexico, Gutiérrez founded La Irazu Big Band in Munich, Germany, in 1981.
His name is taken from one of the most important volcanoes in Costa Rica. The Irazu Big Band debuted in 1985 with the production Rumberos Del Irazu, a collaboration with Tata Güines.
A La Palladium, preceded by the production of the 2013 Son Elegante (Ediciones Pentagrama), was recorded between Havana and New York and counted on the arrangements of Horacio González -mostly- and Raúl Cabrera. Likewise, musicians were invited to record with the same Gillespie: the saxophonist Paquito D'Rivera, the Brazilian guitarist Romero Lubambo, the trumpet player -also Brazilian- Claudio Roditi and the Cubans Polo Tamayo on the flute and Rolando Luna on the piano among others .
