The band was created by Simon Cowell and Ricky Martin, the latter being a former member of iconic Latin pop boy band Menudo. So under Martin's mentorship, CNCO was definitely destined for success.
CNCO formed on the first season finale of the Latin music competition show "La Banda." Richard Camacho, Erick Brian Colón, Zabdiel De Jesús, Joel Pimentel and Christopher Vélez all competed individually before they formed a boy band where members sing and dance in unison.
CNCO is definitely the breakout Latin pop act of 2016, and the band's success carried over into 2017. The group won New Artist of the Year, Latin Pop Songs Artist of the Year—Duo or Group, and Latin Pop Albums Artist of the Year—Duo or Group at the 2017 Billboard Latin Music Awards. They also won the 2017 Teen Choice Award for Choice Latin Artist. It's safe to say CNCO is unstoppable, and they are setting out to take over the world.
CNCO is really new to the scene and has already made a mega impact in the Latin American pop game.
CNCO definitely built their following, known as the CNCOwners, through the show and touring with Ricky. They made their debut in 2016 with their breakthrough LP "Primera Cita" in 2016. The album features the smash banger "Reggaetón Lento (Bailemos)," which peaked at #6 on the Latin pop charts and spun a remix featuring the U.K.'s top girl group Little Mix. The music video for the single recently gained more than 1 billion views on YouTube, a huge feat for any boy band.
