Andrea Motis

A gifted singer and trumpeter, Spain's Andrea Motis makes emotive, romantic jazz. Born in Barcelona in 1995, Motisstudied trumpet and saxophone from a young age. By the time she was 13 years old, she was singing and playing trumpet in the Sant Andreu Jazz Band under the supervision of her mentor, saxophonist Joan Chamorro.

 In 2010, at age 15, she made her recorded debut with the standards album Joan Chamorro Presenta Andrea Motis. More well-received albums followed, including 2012's Feeling Good and 2015's Live at Palau de la Música. In 2017, Motis made her Impulse! Records debut with Emotional Dance.

Andrea Motis, since she was 10 years old, is part of the Sant Andreu Jazz Band, directed by Joan Chamorro, and with which she has had the opportunity to play and record with musicians such as Dick Oatts, John Allred, Luigi Grasso, Ken Peplowsky , Perico Sambeat, Scott Robinson, Scott Hamilton, Bobby Gordon, Terell Staford, Wycliffe Gordon, Jesse Davis.

At present, after 6 years of experience, the tandem Motis-Chamorro has 5 recordings to its name, "Joan Chamorro presents Andrea Motis" (2010), Feeling Good (2012), Live at Jamboree & Scott Hamilton (2013), Motis Chamorro Bigband (2013), Live at Casa Fuster (2014) and more than 20 collaborations including the 6 of the Joan Chamorro series, the 5 JAZZINGS of the Sant Andreu Jazz Band, the Miles Tribute band, the Catalan Ensemble, etc.
