The Gabriel Hernandez Trio returns to Timucua! One of the most important exponents of the Cuban piano jazz style, Hernandez is a purveyor of world-class Latin music with a strong jazz flavor. Hailing from the city of Camagüey, where he studied at the Conservatory Luis Casa Romero, the Cuban virtuoso pianist has shared the stage with iconic jazzmen Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock, and has performed with Tito Puente, Arturo Sandoval, and Paquito D’Rivera, among others. Singled out by the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba as a personality of Cuban art, Hernandez is a member of the evaluation committee of artists in his home country. His trio is rounded out by composer, producer, and educator Mauricio J. Rodriguez on bass, and Dimas Sanchez—whose style encompasses salsa, samba, bossa nova, Afro-Cuban and world music—on drums and percussion.
